Universal Laws

These are my favorite books for understanding more about universal laws

Dan Millman is one of my favorite authors on the subject of universal laws and enlightened living.  I highly recommend reading the following books of his:

The Laws of Spirit

Living on Purpose

The Life You Were Born to Live

Everyday Enlightenment

The Way of the Peaceful Warrior

One of my favorite books on universal laws is by a man named Bruce McArthur.  It is a distilled synthesis of thousands of readings by the prophet Edgar Cayce and is entitled:

Your Life:  Why it is the way it is and what you can do about it, Understanding the Universal Laws

Myers-Briggs Psychological Typing System        [back to the top]

The original book by Carl Gustav Jung  (Carl Jung was the forerunner of the Myers-Briggs system.  He was the genius who developed the theory of psychological types which was later adapted into the Myers-Briggs system.)

Psychological Types  ***** (This book is for the serious Myers-Briggs student who is interested in understanding the theory behind the Myers-Briggs system.  This book is not an easy read but extremely enlightening, as are all of Carl Jung's books.)

Books by Isabel Briggs Myers  (Isabel is the developer of the Myers-Briggs system along with her mother Katherine Briggs.)

Gifts Differing ***** (The classic on the Myers-Briggs system by one of the co-creators.)

Books, videos and tapes by Paul D. Tieger & Barbara Barron-Tieger

Just Your Type ***** (This is the best Myers-Briggs relationship compatibility book I know of.  It compares all 136 different type combinations!  The Tiegers did extensive interviewing of specific types to come up with their data.  Simply excellent!)

Do What You Are ***** (This is one of the best books explaining what each Myers-Briggs type needs for career satisfaction)

The Art of SpeedReading People ***** (Book explaining how to "read" someone's Myers-Briggs type)

The Art of SpeedReading People Advanced Video Training Kit ***** (This kit enhances the concepts presented in the book by the same title.  It consists of 2 Videos, a workbook, 2 audio cassette tapes, 2 pocket SpeadReader cards and a Portable SpeedReading booklet.  If you want to learn how to determine someone's Myers-Briggs type by paying attention to physical and verbal cues, this kit and the book by the same title will teach you how.)

Nurture by Nature (one of the few books written for parents to really understand their child's personality type)

Books by Renee Baron (Renee is a type 7 and an ENFP I think.  She is a great teacher and writes easy and fun to read books with excellent factual information all bullet pointed out.  She also has great cartoons to bring the Myers-Briggs types to life a little more easily.  Renee is a psychologist and uses the Myers-Briggs system and the Enneagram system hand-in-hand like me!)

What Type Am I?  Discover Who You Really Are ***** (This is my all time favorite book on the Myers-Briggs system.  I reach for this book first when I'm trying to help someone understand their Myers-Briggs type.  It has tons of cartoons in it and in the back of the book is a graph correlating the Myers-Briggs system with the Enneagram system.  Great resource.  Get this book!)

Books by Donna Dunning  (Donna is a psychologist, teacher, certified human resources professional, and director of a consulting business specializing in the areas of adult learning, career development, and performance)

What's Your Type of Career?  Unlock the Secrets of Your Personality to Find Your Perfect Career Path  ***** (This is the best written book I have on Myers-Briggs types and career satisfaction.  Donna explains each type thoroughly and has included wonderful checklist tables and lists of various careers)

The Enneagram Personality Typing System        [back to the top]

Books and tapes by Helen Palmer  (Helen is a type 6 and one of the foremost leaders in the field of Enneagram studies.  She has a strong background in psychology, psychic work and meditation.  She is an INTP in the Myers-Briggs system so her writing style is quite intellectual in my opinion.  I got certified by Helen and David Daniels)

The Enneagram:  Understanding Yourself and the Others in Your Life

The Enneagram in Love and Work

The Enneagram Advantage

The Pocket Enneagram

The Enneagram Workshop ***** (this is great!  6 audio cassettes with study guide, 8 3/4 hours long)

Books by Dr. David Daniels  (David is also a type 6 and a renowned psychiatrist who works at Stanford University and has his own private practice)

The Essential Enneagram  ***** (this is THE book to get to determine your or someone else's type accurately)

Books and tapes by Don Richard Riso and Russ Hudson  (Don is a type 4 and Russ is a type 5.  Don and Russ are also two of the foremost leaders in the Enneagram field.  They introduced the concept of Levels of Development within each type ranging from very healthy to very unhealthy.  I love all of their books because they explain the Enneagram in a systematic and symmetrical way that allows for easy learning)

The Wisdom of the Enneagram ***** (Great introductory book)

Personality Types ***** (This is the most complete source of in-depth Enneagram information in one book)

Understanding the Enneagram ***** (This book is simply excellent!  It gives the major issues of each type in a very succinct way.  This book also has sections on The Centers, Psychological Categories, Recommendations For Each Type and Misidentifications between types that I found invaluable)

Discovering Your Personality Type (a 144 question personality test that will help you determine your type.  I prefer the Essential Enneagram by Dr. David Daniels because that test is quicker to take and just as effective at getting to your type)

Enneagram Transformations (Release and Affirmations for healing your Enneagram type.  Not all that great.)

The Power of the Enneagram ***** (6 audio cassettes with study guide, 7 hours long.  This is the best, professionally recorded introduction to each of the types that is available.  Unfortunately, it is not still sold new.)

Books by Kathy Hurley and Theodorre Donson (Kathy is a type 3 and Theodorre is a type 4.  Kathy and Theodorre are also two of the foremost leaders in the Enneagram field. Their specialization has been on the development of an understanding of how to use the three centers of intelligence optimally)

What's My Type?

My Best Self:  Using the Enneagram to Free the Soul

Discover Your Soul Potential ***** (excellent discussion of the undeveloped/under-actualized center for each type)

Essential Self, Essential Style:  Align Your Inner Essence and Outer Expression (great book for the layperson that doesn't know anything about the Enneagram.  This is a book about how to develop your under-actualized center.  It will not help you to determine your Enneagram type and does not talk about each type individually)

Books by Janet Levine (Janet is a type 3.  She is also a teacher and has written one book on using the Enneagram for effective teaching and learning and one book on using the Enneagram for effective teaching.  Both excellent, in-depth books for the layperson)

Know Your Parenting Personality (One of the few books written for parents to understand how their Enneagram type affects the way they parent)

Enneagram Intelligences

Books by Richard Rohr (Richard is a type 1 and also a leading teacher in the Enneagram field.  He teaches the Enneagram from a Christian point of view but gives excellent descriptions of the types.)

The Enneagram (with co-author Andreas Ebert)

Books by Renee Baron (Renee is a type 7 and an ENFP I think.  She is a great teacher and writes easy and fun to read books with excellent factual information all bullet pointed out.  She also has great cartoons to bring the Enneagram types to life a little more easily.  Renee is a psychologist and uses the Myers-Briggs system and the Enneagram system hand-in-hand like me!)

The Enneagram Made Easy ***** (In the back of this book there is information about the Myers-Briggs system and its correlation with the Enneagram.  Great resource.  Get this book!)

Are You My Type, Am I Yours?  (with co-author Elizabeth Wagele.  This is one of two books I know of on the Enneagram and relationships.  It's just okay.  I know that Don Richard Riso and Russ Hudson are in the process of writing one at the moment and I have no doubt that it will be great like the rest of their books)

Books by Michael Goldberg (I don't know Michael's Enneagram type but I'm guessing he's a type 1.  He is a business consultant and has written a really nice book on all different aspects of how each Enneagram type prefers to work)

The 9 Ways of Working (This book was formerly called Getting Your Boss's Number)

Books and tapes by Eli-Jaxon Bear  (Eli is a type 8 and an enlightened man who teaches the Enneagram as a tool for reaching Self-Realization not for becoming healthier within the false personality self)

The Enneagram Tapes - from fixation to freedom (6 audio cassettes with 20 page study guide, 9 hours)

The Enneagram of Liberation - from fixation to freedom (book)

Books and Tapes by Thomas Condon  (Tom is a type 6 and a seasoned Enneagram workshop presenter, NLP Master Practitioner and Eriksonian Hypnotherapist, among other things.  He knows the Enneagram cold and uses his other talents to affect change in people's lives!)

The Enneagram Movie and Video Guide ***** (excellent book with which to learn the Enneagram, especially if you've seen a lot of movies or enjoy renting movies and want to look for Enneagram types.  The book lists movies with Enneagram type characters)

The Dynamic Enneagram, Volumes I and II (being released very soon but not as of now (8/4/03).  These volumes are bound to be hugely popular when released because Tom is a renowned Enneagram and NLP teacher)
